Anticipated Base Compensation : $31.25/hr - $34.47/hr

Summary Description

The Facilities Technician Lead reports directly to the Facilities Team Manager and  plays an essential role in supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the school’s facilities and grounds. This position involves hands-on work across a wide range of maintenance disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general repair. The Technician Lead collaborates closely with the Facilities Team Manager and all maintenance personnel  to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance requests and projects. This role supports coordination efforts when the Facilities Manager is unavailable.  Additional duties include coordinating with vendors, supporting event setups and takedowns, and assisting in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment.  This position is based on campus, with occasional evening or weekend events. 
 

Essential Functions and Specific Duties

  • Work directly in support of the Facilities Team Manager to assess daily maintenance needs and carry out assigned repair and maintenance tasks efficiently and safely.
  • In the Manager’s absence, take the lead on work orders and project execution ensuring smooth team communication and task progress.
  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across campus facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and equipment repairs.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs and urgent repair situations, including during non-business hours as required.
  • Ensure safe working conditions in all maintenance operations and follow school safety protocols and best practices.
  • Work alongside outside contractors and vendors to ensure maintenance or repair jobs are completed according to school standards.
  • Inspect campus spaces and proactively identify issues, initiate minor repairs, and notify Facilities Team Manager  of larger issues or risks.
  • Provide event support by assisting with the setup and breakdown of equipment, furniture, and audio-visual systems for campus events.
  • Assist in seasonal maintenance duties including exterior work such as pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and grounds upkeep.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Contribute to a customer-focused, solutions-driven facilities culture.
  • Perform, with a team approach, other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot electrical, plumbing and other facilities issues, and repair or assist in performing repairs as directed.
  • Comfortable using power tools, hand tools, and specialized maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and work orders.
  • Working knowledge of safety codes and OSHA guidelines.
  • Comfortable with basic digital tools including Google Workspace; experience with facilities management systems a plus.
