Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Summary Description
The Part-Time Facilities Assistant II will, during the summer season, work closely with the school’s full-time facilities team to support a variety of facilities projects, with a focus on painting, drywall/plaster repair, and general upkeep. This position assists with both routine maintenance tasks and more specialized repair and improvement projects. The role is especially important during the summer, when the school undergoes significant repairs, updates, and room transitions.
Essential Functions and Specific Duties
- Assist with minor drywall and plaster repairs, including patching and prepping for paint.
- Perform interior and exterior painting, including prep work, edging, and clean-up.
- Help with demolition tasks and removal of old materials during room or facility updates.
- Support carpentry projects such as furniture repair, minor framing, or trim work.
- Replace basic light fixtures, outlets, and cover plates safely (no high-voltage work).
- Assist with the moving of classroom furniture, office equipment, and storage items.
- Help set up and break down for school events, assemblies, or room changes.
- Provide general maintenance support including cleaning of job sites, trash removal, and basic landscaping tasks.
- Perform with a team approach, other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required; trade certifications a plus but not required.
- Prior experience in a trade, maintenance, or construction setting is strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge or hands-on experience with drywall, plaster, painting, and light carpentry.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools, including drills, saws, and sanders.
- Capable of safely handling light electrical work such as replacing light fixtures or ballasts.
- Able to provide occasional support during after-school or weekend events as needed.
