Founded in 1909 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school serving 800 students in grades six through twelve. The School is located on a historic campus in the heart of La Jolla, just 10 miles north of downtown San Diego. With a student-teacher ratio of approximately 9 to 1, Bishop’s is known for academic, artistic, and athletic excellence while celebrating character development, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Last year’s applicant pool drew from 72 zip codes and 168 middle and high schools throughout San Diego County and beyond. Position Summary Description
The Bishop’s School seeks a full-time English teacher beginning in August 2026. Ideal candidates will demonstrate capacity to teach high school English with the ability to teach additional course offerings based on departmental need, and will possess a strong foundation in curriculum development, literature, and writing instruction. The English Department seeks candidates who are flexible, creative, collaborative, and eager to teach upper school students.
Bishop’s faculty communicate regularly with students, parents and administrators on student progress and are regularly expected to supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day and after school. In addition to teaching, faculty serve as advisors to students and offer daily office hours.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 based on experience.
