Anticipated Base Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000

Position Description:

The Food Service Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, purchasing, and managing the operations and administration of the food service program in accordance with School, federal and state policies or applicable laws and regulations. He or She will lead and develop a team that will be creative, knowledgeable, and forward thinking in the creation of a nutritional food services program to offer to students and employees during the regular academic year, special events and potential summer school periods. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position with a general schedule from 7:30am to 4pm subject to occasional events and agreement during the school year only. 

 

Essential Functions and Specific Duties:  

  • Directs, schedules supervise and plan the operation of the Food Service Department by establishing departmental policies and procedures to ensure conformance with food quality, nutritional sanitation, and productivity standards in accordance with School policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Campus Operations to prepare and manage department budgets for future years while ensuring that existing budgetary thresholds are successfully met by active participation in all activities that may potentially affect the results (event planning, monitoring of expenses of material and food orders, etc.).   
  • Directs, schedules supervise and plan the operation of the Food Service Department by establishing departmental policies and procedures to ensure conformance with food quality, nutritional sanitation, and productivity standards in accordance with School policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a sanitary and safe kitchen by creating an accurate worklist of existing kitchen equipment. The manager will be expected to maintain up to date historical records of upkeep and be able to communicate future repair or replacement needs.  
  • Professionally interact with colleagues, members of the public, direct reports, students and vendors. The manager will show a spirit of cooperativeness and remain approachable in all areas of communication.  
  • Demonstrate the personal characteristics of flexibility, high stress tolerance, reliability, punctuality, dependability, and an overall ability to maintain confidentiality.    
  • Develop best practices and staff training program for continued growth opportunities for direct reports.
  • Various responsibilities in the execution of food preparation to submittal of document reporting, email, etc.  
 

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • High School diploma required. Associate degree and higher preferred. Field of study in culinary, hospitality or related fields strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of coordinating food service and preparation with kitchen staff.
  • First Aid/CPR, Manager’s Food Handler Certificate, valid driver’s license.
  • Must have experience in mass production and delivery of quality food products.
  • Proven experience with the conversion of ingredients to accommodate changes in food preparation.
  • Ability to interact with all customers in any environment setting.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Google Workspace and aptitude for learning new technology.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
